On January 11th, Val Unger, Manager of Branch and Reading Room Activities will be visiting our branch church in Athens, GA for a 2-3 hour meeting on this topic.

You can find out more about the meeting here.

Per TMC, this meeting is for, “members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Athens. We have found that these meetings maintain their focus when held for those who have already committed to branch church membership as the conversation tends to be deeper and remain centered. When opened up to attendees, the meeting dynamic changes significantly with more general questions, observations, and comments.”

We will have a pot-luck luncheon immediately following the service before the “MFTaaCoH” meeting begins.

To get the most out of your meeting,…

…we ask that the members work with the following from the writings of Mary Baker Eddy for their prayerful preparation:

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, 136:1:  “Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing.”
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, “Choose Ye,”  (p. 4)

For those eager to do more, we’ve also found that the following are thought-provoking and inspiring resources:

Miscellaneous Writings, “The Way,” (p. 355): Includes essential elements to progress.
Church Manual: How does the Manual support and enable our individual and collective healing mission?

In preparation for this discussion, you may want to consider the purpose of church, and yours in particular. Also, are there any specific outcomes you would like to see as a result of this discussion with your members? In addition, it can be healthy to identify and be grateful for your strengths and consider how you might like to improve upon them?

Val Unger is looking forward to facilitating this heart-to-heart conversation with your members! Please convey our gratitude to all who have helped organize this meeting!
